Ms. Ferguson's AP English Class Gets Shmooped

A few months ago, we announced a pilot program in which we made our shiny, new online AP Exam Prep courses freely available to students in 20 urban public school districts. We were thrilled to help out urban schools in this tough economic climate. But, that announcement was one of those nervous moments when one asks, "what if we throw a party and nobody shows up?"

Well, we're pleased to report that the party was awesome. Thousands of teachers and students from these urban districts took us up on our offer. Which districts really went to town? Philadelphia, St. Louis, Cleveland, NYC, and Atlanta had the most students use our AP Prep.

Ms. Gail Ferguson teaches AP English Language and Composition at Aviation High School in the New York City Public Schools. Not only did Ms. Ferguson go out of her way to get Shmoop's AP Prep materials into her students' hands, but she also gave Shmoop t-shirts to all of her students to help pump them up for the big exam day. Says Ms. Ferguson, "The kids in their shirts made quite an impression on the underclassmen. Everyone wanted to know about Shmoop and why the AP [students] were wearing shirts that said Shmoop. It was a lot of fun."

Congrats to all of the students in Ms. Ferguson's class and to all of students who showed up for our party. Next year will be even bigger and better. We promise.
