Valentine's Day Love Potion Guide

It might just be the massive amounts of chocolate talking, but we love Valentine's Day over at Shmoop HQ. So much so that we came up with our own love potion to celebrate.

Shmoop's Special Love Potion

A pinch of the ultimate love poem.

Elizabeth Barrett Browning sure had a way with words. Pro tip: if you write your own love poem, the potion will taste extra sweet.

A tablespoon of romance.

Whether you're more of a William Shakespeare romantic, a Jane Austen romantic, or a Stephenie Meyer romantic (no shame!), you have to include at least a smidge of romance.

A dash of Cupid.

You know this guy loves Valentine's Day. Just be careful as you're throwing him into the mix—he isn’t always accurate with those arrows.

An ounce of music.

Aerosmith will make your special someone melt faster than a chocolate heart in the long as you don't include a picture of Steven Tyler.

A cup (or two) of hormones.

Finding yourself drooling over that cutie in math class? Leave the drool out of the potion (ew), but definitely throw in those hormones. Believe us—there are plenty to go around.

Try it at home, and let us know how it works out!

Shmoop Famous Quote

"You must allow me to tell you how ardently I admire and love you."

Pride and Prejudice

Oh please, Mr. Darcy. You’re making us blush.
